SOS was busy in April with a variety of activities related to Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Following the theme Building Connected Communities, the organization planned several events that community members could attend.
April 5 was Wear Blue Day and SOS joined in with agencies and individuals across the country in wearing blue to promote prevention of child abuse.
April 5 was also Emporia First Friday, and SOS joined the monthly event with chalk drawing at St. Andrew's Church in Emporia.
On April 9, 2024 SOS held event Take Back the Night, a yearly event held during Sexual Assault Awareness Month to draw promote prevention of sexual assault and support for survivors.
On April 18, 2024 2022's Miss Kansas, Ayanna Schumacher, presented at Flint Hills Technical College. She spoke about the importance of mentorship and resiliency for young people.
Throughout the month SOS CASA of the Flint Hills displayed blue pinwheels in downtown Emporia for Child Abuse Prevention Month, and pinwheels from Kansas Children's Service League were placed in front of the SOS building in Emporia.
