Increasing Safety in homes & hearts

window into a christmas scene

The Christmas season- we associate it with a cozy home and a warm night. Santa Claus and stockings. Yet for some families, the holidays are filled with fear – a powder keg waiting to explode. In some homes, there is no moment of everyone smiling around a dinner table. Instead, power and control are the focus. Children learn to walk on eggshells. Constant vigilance is a present they know they will unwrap. Or for some, there are no presents because an abuser controls all of the family income.

Luckily, there is an organization that can help. SOS helps victims of violence increase their safety.

  • Independent surveys show 98% of victims served felt safer after receiving SOS Crisis Services.
  • In 2013, our Child Visitation and Exchange Center experienced no security incidents.
  • SOS CASA of the Flint Hills had another exemplary year with no children assigned a CASA volunteer experiencing re-abuse.

Families that receive support and advocacy from SOS experience the support of the community through our Holiday Drive. This year is wrapping up to be one of our biggest ever. SOS has been fortunate to receive so much support this year. We want to thank all of our donors for choosing to support SOS and our clients. Your support tells our clients they matter. It shares the joy of the season with the most vulnerable, and we are all better served for it.

If you or someone you know is having a difficult time due to any kind of abuse- free confidential help is available. Call our 24 hour hotline today 800-825-1295 or 620-342-1870.
