CVEC Welcomes New Director
SOS, Inc. welcomes Tara Schnakenberg as the Director of the Child Visitation & Exchange Center. Prior to working for SOS, she was employed at TFI Family Services, Inc. as a Family Support Worker and previously as a Human Resource Specialist. The past 1 ½ years she worked as a Legal Secretary at the Lyon County Attorney’s Office. “Having several years of experience working directly with children and families, developing community partnerships, knowledge of the Court System and HR laws, will allow me to apply those skills and knowledge in my new position as Director of CVEC,” says Schnakenberg.
Born in Aurora, CO and raised in Olathe, KS, Schnakenberg moved to Emporia to attend Emporia State University in 1999, where she majored in Psychology, minored in Rehabilitation, and played on the ESU Varsity Tennis team. She was also a member of the ESU Chapter of Chi Omega. “I am proud to call Emporia my home and to be a part of such a wonderful community,” she adds, “I am very excited and honored to have the opportunity to become a part of SOS and to be able to serve families in need of visitation services in our community. It is wonderful that our community has a Child Visitation and Exchange Center because it allows children to have contact with both parents in a safe, neutral environment without conflict or violence.”
The SOS Child Visitation & Exchange Center allows a non-custodial parent the opportunity to visit with their child or children in a safe, neutral and positive environment. Using the CVEC allows the child to engage with their parent without having to witness conflict. CVEC provides supervised visitations and monitored exchanges with flexible hours and on-site security. Since it’s opening in 1998, over 20,000 visitations and / or exchanges have been provided. Families in need of services can contact CVEC by calling 620-342-0076 or visiting the CVEC webpage.
